Attendance is 12 days over 12 months at Manchester Dental Education Centre/Dundee Dental Education Centre.
The sessions are always held on a Saturday. We also host a welcome day prior to the course starting so that you can meet the team from the University of Chester and complete all the necessary paperwork. You will also get the opportunity to network with the other delegates and listen to the presentations regarding the essays and using the University online library.
To achieve a Postgraduate Certificate in Restorative Dentistry, 60 credits must be achieved by studying:
NM7145 Patient assessment, treatment planning and occlusion - 20 credits
NM7146 Fixed and removable prosthodontics - 20 credits
NM7147 Endodontics and periodontology - 20 credits
These modules are developmental and must be completed in sequence. The modules explore advanced diagnostic techniques, before engaging the students in the development of treatment plans which will draw on their analytical and clinical decision-making skills with the aim of achieving ideal restorative outcomes. There is an exit award following successful completion of these modules, a Postgraduate Certificate in Restorative Dentistry.
You must complete - 2 essays, examination and 2 case study submission over the 12 months

2 days Advanced Endodontics
2 days Aesthetics
2 days Periodontics including gum contouring and surgical approaches
2 days Advanced Restoratives
NM7148 Implant, aesthetic and advanced restorative techniques - 40 credits
NM7069 Research - 20 credits (taught at riverside campus)
NM7148 will build on the knowledge and skills students gained during year 1 to explore more complex cases and advanced restorative techniques. This module can be completed in any sequence, and the Research module NM7069 will facilitate students to extend their knowledge of empirical methods and develop a research proposal that will provide a valuable foundation for the dissertation. There is an exit award following successful completion of 120 credits, a Postgraduate Diploma in Restorative Dentistry.

Year 3 - MSc
2 full days at Chester university (MSc) and 12 half days over 12 months which will be distance learning.
NM7059 Dissertation - 60 credits (taught at riverside campus)
Year 3 consists of one core 60 credit module NM7059 which is the Dissertation module. This enables the learner to select an area of restorative dentistry and undertake an in-depth study of it. On successful completion of 180 credits, the learner can be awarded an MSc in Restorative Dentistry
